Aesthetic dentistry and smile makeover

Aesthetic dentistry is also referred to as cosmetic dentistry or restorative dentistry. The following are a part of aesthetic dentistry:
Porcelain Veneers and Composite Veneers:
Porcelain veneer is a thin shell of ceramic. This is bonded tightly on the surface of the teeth. They also provide strength to the original teeth. Composite Veneers is composed on the same material which is used for cosmetic bonding and for white fillings. Composite veneers can be fixed on the surface of the teeth in a single visit and they are polished too.
Teeth Whitening
It is a process by which stains on the teeth are removed and the color of the teeth is improved through bleaching.
Gum contouring:
A gummy smile can be improved with gum contouring. In a gummy smile the gums are seen prominently and shorten the length of the teeth, this can directly affect the smile of a person. This procedure uses the method of scalpel, where the excessive gum over the teeth is trimmed. But, this is a painless treatment.
Cosmetic Bonding:
It is useful when the teeth is worn at the end where it meets the gums or the biting end, when there are gaps between teeth, or where teeth are not properly shaped. In this process tooth colored composite material is bonded on the tooth by using dental adhesives.
Smile Makeover
Smile Makeover is a process by which smile of a person is improved by considering the person’s lip line, skin color, eyes, gums and the face. This is accomplished through smile design.

Tooth colored fillings:
When the teeth are unattractive due to decay or fillings, composite resins are used to restore the attractive look of the teeth. Contemporary dental care is incomplete without aesthetic dentistry, and a smile makeover is an integral part of aesthetic dentistry. When someone opts for cosmetic surgery, smile also needs to be improved and this is done by an aesthetic dentist through smile makeover.
